What assistance can we provide?
Women’s House Shelta provides assistance to women and children affected by domestic or family violence from its Centre in Woolloongabba.
Domestic or Family Violence consists of a wide range of behaviours which are used deliberately by partners or family members to dominate you and gain control over what you do.
It includes physical acts like hitting, pushing, smashing things or locking you in.
It can also involve:
Swearing at you, calling you names and putting you down.
Checking and controlling where you are, who you see and who you talk to
Threatening to hurt you, your kids, family members or a pet
Controlling the money
Blaming you and calling you crazy
Forcing or pressuring to have sex when you don’t want to
